Leeds United paying €22m to secure player – Agreement with player and club, announcement on way

Jaka Bijol got married in Slovenia last weekend which was the reason behind his transfer to Leeds United somewhat slowing down.

At the beginning of this week, we covered multiple claims from Italy which stated the Whites had moved forward to seal a deal for the defender and were set to offer the fee Udinese found acceptable.

Then on Wednesday it was reported the 26-year-old was set for his Leeds United medical on that day, with an announcement then expected in the coming days after that

Now on Saturday, there’s been no announcement yet and impatience is rising similar to the same time last week. To calm that a little it’s worth noting that in Italy the transfer is seen as done, with Udinese going on to look at who they can sign as a replacement.

Calciomercato report Leeds United are paying €22m for the signing, and they even state Inter Milan were keen on the Slovenia international. As we’d covered a week ago, the Yorkshire club reached an agreement with Bijol’s camp before submitting a first offer to Udinese, which was rejected, and then returning with a successful second offer.

Unless Leeds United want to test the patience of supporters further, an announcement will be on the way shortly.

Udinese are working on signing Nicolò Bertola from Sepzia as a replacement.
