However, Newcastle are not planning to rest on their laurels by any means, with the Telegraph now claiming that the Magpies are ready to move for Marc Guehi and Bryan Mbeumo of Crystal Palace and Brentford respectively.
The latter has already made a comment which could help Newcastle during talks over personal terms.

The Cameroon international may jump at the chance to join Newcastle, as their stadium is one of his favourites.
When speaking to Pro Direct, who asked the Brentford No.19 a range of quick-fire questions, Mbeumo admitted he loves St James’ Park.
The 25-year-old said “I really like Everton and Newcastle as well” when asked to name the stadium he enjoys playing at most.
Mbeumo also mentioned St James’ Park and Goodison Park when asked to select the toughest stadium he’s played at, adding: “Probably one of those.”

Mbeumo scored 20 Premier League goals this season, and Howe is understandably desperate to have him on Tyneside amidst interest from Arsenal and Manchester United too.
The Telegraph state that a fee in the region of £50m to £60m is realistic for Newcastle to sign the man born in Avallon, given the fact he only has 12 months remaining on his contract.
Newcastle – who are without a Sporting Director after Paul Mitchell left – should therefore be expected to open the bidding with a £50m offer, before possibly moving closer to £60m should that be rejected.
Mbeumo is also said to be a long-term target for Newcastle, so don’t be surprised to see the Magpies attempt to wrap this deal up as quickly as possible, with all groundwork done on the Brentford star.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Newcastle’s Paul Mitchell is a target for Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal.
Al-Hilal want a new sporting director and are doing work on options including Mitchell, who is leaving the Magpies at the end of June.
Newcastle made an official announcement this past week, confirming that Mitchell is set to leave the club by mutual consent.
