Not every City first-team player has yet featured in pre-season, with Mads Hermansen, Abdul Fatawu and Jannik Vestergaard among the group still to get their first summer outing

Thirty-three players featured for Leicester City on Saturday and yet they still have five more first-team stars to return to the fold.

An extended match against sister club OH Leuven allowed first-team coach Andy King to name three separate sides for the 2-1 victory, mixing senior players and up-and-coming talents and with international players involved for the first time.

Only one City player did not make it through their allocated pitch-time, Victor Kristiansen substituted off less than 25 minutes into his scheduled hour.

The Danish left-back headed straight back into the changing room after he was withdrawn during a drinks break in the beating sun, with Mirsad Ali coming on to replace him.

But, thankfully, it does not seem like Kristiansen suffered a serious issue, and so will be able to travel to Austria with the rest of the group on Wednesday.

Speaking after the game, King told the club: “Victor was the only one who he lost but it sounds like it’s not too bad.”

Of the five first-team players who have not yet featured this pre-season, Jannik Vestergaard is among the likeliest to get pitch-time during the Austria trip. The Danish centre-back was in training at the back end of last week.

Mads Hermansen has been back for a fortnight now but has not yet played, with the club taking precautions over the goalkeeper following his groin surgery a couple of months ago.

It’s the same story for Abdul Fatawu, who had been working at Seagrave throughout the summer as part of his rehab from an ACL tear.

It has still only been eight months since the winger suffered the serious injury, and so he will have to be eased back in.

Harry Souttar is also in the building, but is further away from featuring. After an Achilles tear last December, it’s not expected that he will be ready to play until close to the end of the year.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid will be the last player to return, having only recently been in international action.

The forward was at Seagrave in early June rehabbing a muscle injury, but then jetted out to North America to represent Jamaica at the Gold Cup at the end of last month.
