Nikola Krstovic responds to potential £30m move to Leeds United, his stance is clear
Leeds United have been linked with a move for Nikola Krstovic this summer. The Lecce striker is in demand after scoring 11 goals in 37 Serie A games last season.
Leeds United have already started putting their reported £150million transfer budget to use this summer, having used £20million of that on the signings of Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw, whilst Lukas Nmecha has joined on a free transfer.
This week, Leeds United announced the signing of Bornauw in a £5million deal from Wolfsburg, becoming the second centre-back to arrive at Elland Road this summer along with Bijol.
Now it looks like Daniel Farke will turn his attentions elsewhere on the pitch. He has a handful of positions that are looking alarmingly low on numbers and quality ahead of next season, one such position being up front.
Leeds are interested in a number of strikers and Nikola Krstovic is one of them. And now the Montenegrin international’s stance on a potential Elland Road move has been revealed.
Nikola Krstovic hands Leeds United transfer blow as stance on move revealed
Leeds United have shown interest in Krstovic for some time now. Farke fancies a move for the 25-year-old who’s scored 18 Serie A goals across the last two campaigns, including 11 last time round. But Krstovic doesn’t appear keen on a move to Yorkshire this summer, with a move elsewhere in Italy preferred.
Earlier in the summer it was reported that Krstovic wanted to join another Serie A team this summer. He’d had previous links to AC Milan and Roma and he’s understood to be hopeful that one of those two will make a move to sign him this summer. Lecce value Krstovic at around £30million, per reports.
Calcio Lecce now report that, not only is Krstovic hoping for a big move in Italy, but that he’s also not convinced about by the possibility of joining Leeds this summer, in what may come as a major blow for Farke who keeps on missing out on transfer targets.
It’s not doom and gloom for Leeds United, Nikola Krstovic is one of many options
We’ve seen so many players be linked with Leeds United this summer, only to then rule out a move or to move elsewhere. Just this week, Sunderland have signed two Leeds United transfer targets in Habib Diarra and Noah Sadiki.
But Krstovic is just one of several being considered by Farke this summer. Speaking to Leeds United News, transfer expert Graeme Bailey revealed how Krstovic isn’t high on Leeds United’s striker shortlist this summer, he explained: “He’s obviously been mentioned to Leeds at some point.
“He clearly has. I know for a fact he has, so he’s obviously made it onto the list, from what I’ve heard. He’s just not very high on it. One of many. Leeds aren’t panicking, they’re doing the right things.”
So Krstovic not being keen on a move to Leeds isn’t the end of the world. But it’s another target who Leeds United have no doubt done their homework on, but who won’t be arriving at Elland Road this summer.
Time will quickly run out this summer and a couple of new strikers is perhaps the one thing that would play the biggest role in keeping Leeds in the Premier League next season.
