Cubs Move Closer to Playoff Berth with Key Victory over Pirates

The Chicago Cubs continue their push for a postseason appearance, edging out the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 on Tuesday night. This win marks a crucial step toward clinching their first playoff berth in five seasons, although they will need to wait a little longer to officially secure it.

Rookie pitcher Cade Horton took center stage, earning his 11th win of the season. While his outing lasted only five innings, Horton was effective, allowing just three hits and one run. His performance included six strikeouts and a walk, showcasing his ability to navigate through the Pirates’ lineup with poise.

The Cubs’ bullpen stepped up in a big way, combining to one-hit the Pirates over the final four innings. Brad Keller, who came in to close out the game, picked up the save, solidifying the team’s strong pitching performance.
