Sunderland Eyeing Move to Sign ‘Truly Phenomenal’ Premier League Winner
Sunderland are one of the sides showing an interest in signing former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, who is now a free agent after leaving The Foxes, according to Fichajes.
It’s been an exciting start to the summer transfer window for Sunderland as they prepare for their return to Premier League football. The gap between England’s top flight and the Championship is clearly growing, so it’s imperative that clubs like Sunderland get their recruitment right in the coming weeks and months.
The Black Cats wasted no time in the market and opted to get their business done as quickly as possible. Regis Le Bris’ side have already brought in Reinildo, Noah Sadiki, Chemsdine Talbi, Enzo Le Fee, Simon Adingra, and Habib Diarra, and they still have plenty of time remaining in the summer window to bring in further additions.

Despite Leicester enduring a difficult season, being relegated back down to the Championship, Vardy still enjoyed a fairly impressive campaign, scoring nine Premier League goals in a struggling side. The 38-year-old, praised as ‘truly phenomenal’ by Optus Sports, showed that he still has what it takes to play at this level, and he could be a smart addition for many clubs on a free transfer, particularly a newly promoted side like Sunderland.
Le Bris’ side have heavily focused their recruitment on young stars with plenty of potential, so bringing in a player of Vardy’s experience could be hugely beneficial for their squad.
