After only half a season at West Brom, Isaac Price has garnered attention from Premier League sides.
At just 21 years old, Price represents a true box-to-box midfielder, with clear quality in both attack and defence, and someone who can operate in many different positions.
Therefore, it hasn’t come as a shock to see that the West Brom man has been the subject of transfer rumours from the top flight, with Sunderland and Burnley interested in acquiring the Northern Irishman’s services.
Premier League sides need grit, desire and determination in the midfield, and that goes double for the newly promoted sides, who are expected to play without the ball and work hard to compete with the top-flight big boys.
Therefore, Price’s description of his game would lend well to both Burnley and Sunderland if they were to launch a bid this summer.
Isaac Price’s determination will suit Burnley and Sunderland
Upon his arrival at The Hawthorns this past January, Price told the club’s media what his play style is like, as Baggies fans prepared to watch him in action.
“I’d say I’m a box-to-box midfielder. I like to get involved in the attacking play, but scoring goals is an area I’d like to improve.
“I like defending as well, I love getting back and making tackles,” he said.
Competing on the defensive side is something which will catch the eye of the likes of Sunderland and Burnley, and, per Fotmob, Price ranked inside the top 15% of central midfielders in the Championship in the percentage of duels won both in the air and on the ground.

Additionally, he accumulated 28 accurate long balls and 16 successful crosses in the 15 Championship games he played last season, so his impact in a playmaking sense is also clear to see as interest in Price grows.
The Northern Irishman didn’t take long to establish himself as a regular in the Baggies’ side, starting 13 of the 18 games the side played after his arrival. They’ll be sure to incur a struggle to keep him a West Brom regular as we head into the 2025/26 campaign.
Isaac Price’s versatility makes him a big target for Premier League sides
It’s not often that someone as young as Price can adapt and be a serviceable option in many different positions, but the 21-year-old Northern Irishman has proven that he can do a job no matter where his manager wants him to play.
Under Tony Mowbray, Price played in his preferred position in the centre of midfield, but also played in more defensive and attacking midfield roles as well as at right-back, ironically where he scored his first and, to date, only West Brom goal in a 1-1 draw with Hull City.
Mowbray even deployed him as a striker in their defeat to Bristol City in April, and this willingness to play in many different roles will attract clubs to the former Everton youngster.
Many say that newly promoted Premier League sides need sufficient squad depth ahead of the step-up, and bringing in someone who can play almost everywhere on the pitch helps that.
Time will tell whether Isaac Price will be the man for either Burnley or Sunderland this summer.
