Nathan Lowe had only been expected to leave on loan this summer but it’s now been suggested that he could depart permanently if a multi-million-pound bid is made

Stoke City are willing to sell striker Nathan Lowe this summer if their £2.5m price-tag is met, according to reports.

The Sun say that the Potters could cash in on the 19-year-old with his stock high after his excellent spell on loan at Walsall last season.

And the report adds that likely League One promotion contenders Huddersfield may be willing to pay the requested fee.

Lowe scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in 30 outings for Walsall in the first half of last season.

Those tallies eventually led to him receiving the League Two young player of the year award.

He returned to Stoke in January and while he scored in his first game back with the club, he didn’t net again.

Injuries and other circumstances saw his game-time reduce and he didn’t start any of the final 12 Championship games of the season.

It was initially expected that should Lowe leave Stoke this summer, it would again be on loan, likely to League One where he could further hone his skills.

But now it’s said that a sale is a possibility, with Huddersfield at the front of the queue to sign him.

The Terriers were one of the sides that wanted Lowe on loan in January, but league rules prevented the move as players are not able to represent three different clubs in the same campaign.

Former Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant is now in charge at the John Smith’s Stadium.

After hanging up his gloves, Grant built a reputation for himself as a top-level striker coach, working at Ipswich Town as they rose from League One to the Premier League.

Stoke City Ready To Cash In On Attacking Talent

Stoke City are ready to cash in on young hitman Nathan Lowe if the offer on the table is good enough and have a price in mind, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

 

Lowe was on fire in the first half of last season while on loan at Walsall as he struck 15 times in just 22 League Two games.

 

Stoke brought him back to the Potteries in the winter transfer window though and Walsall’s form quickly nosedived, with a playoff final defeat ultimately costing them promotion to League One.

Lowe could still be playing in League One next season however as he has interest from Huddersfield Town.

 

Stoke could let Lowe go if the price is right and are suggested to have slapped a £2.5m asking price on his head.

Huddersfield will have to make a serious financial commitment if they are to sign Lowe, but it is suggested they are getting close to doing it.

Lowe was given few chances by Stoke in the second half of the season and stayed on the pitch for the full 90 minutes in just two of his ten outings.

The young striker hit the back of the net once, in a 1-1 draw away at West Brom in January.

He fell completely out of favour under Mark Robins towards the end of the season and played just two minutes of Championship football in the Potters’ last seven games.

The idea of heading elsewhere and playing week in, week out, could be something which appeals to Lowe.

Huddersfield, under Lee Grant, are hoping to mount a push for promotion from League One this season after a disappointing last campaign which saw them never threatening to go up.

 

Lowe, who scored twice against Huddersfield in the EFL Cup for Walsall, still has another three years left to run on his current contract at Stoke.
