West Brom among Championship clubs tracking 27-year-old Premier League winger
West Brom are among the Championship clubs keeping tabs on Bournemouth man David Brooks, the Express and Star has said.
West Brom are embarking on a new chapter under new management with Ryan Mason taking charge. WBA landed him from Spurs, bringing him in as the full-time replacement for James Morrison.
The Baggies will be eager to break back into the Championship play-offs under the rookie manager, having come up short in the 2024/25 campaign.
Mason will need to be backed with some solid recruitment and several players have already been linked with moves to The Hawthorns. Now, it is claimed that one man on their radar is Bournemouth’s David Brooks.
The Express and Star reports that West Brom are keeping an eye on the Welshman, who could see an exit from the Vitality Stadium sanctioned this summer.
WBA are not alone in monitoring Brooks though, with other Championship clubs said to be doing so too.
The Cherries could make Brooks available for loan to give him a better chance of regular game time. The 27-year-old played 29 times in the Premier League last season, but only nine of those were starts and he didn’t play a full 90 minutes in the league.
A statement signing
Brooks is certainly an eye-catching player to have on the books at Championship level. In the division, he has managed 11 goals and 16 assists in his 86 outings.
That sort of output will certainly appeal to West Brom, especially considering he also has 86 games of Premier League experience to his name.
Brooks is also a 35-time Wales international. In that time, he has managed five goals.
There would appear to be a bit of a queue for his signature though, so if Bournemouth do sanction an exit, WBA could have a bit of a fight on their hands to get him through the door.
An ideal West Brom signing?
West Brom look as though they may need a right winger amid rumours they could cash in on Tom Fellows. Everton failed with a winter move and could revive their interest in his services with a £10m swoop.
Brooks can also play in behind the striker as an attacking midfielder too though. The need for an option there might not be as strong as the need for a winger with Fellows potentially off, but his ability to operate in both roles will give Mason some valuable tactical versatility.
A loan deal wouldn’t break the bank either, freeing up room for the Baggies to spend elsewhere.

As they head into a summer of change at The Hawthorns, there is a debate surrounding the future of United States international striker Daryl Dike.
The 25-year-old striker joined the Baggies in the winter transfer window of 2022 for a fee believed to be in the region of £7 million from Orlando City, having previously impressed on loan at Barnsley at the back end of the 2020/21 campaign.
The Oklahoma-born forward has endured an injury-hit time at Albion, though, only being able to make 39 Championship appearances in the three-and-a-half seasons that he has been at the club.
With just 12 months remaining on his contract, there is natural speculation that the Baggies could try and get some money back for him in this transfer window, but that is not something many West Brom supporters would want to see.
Claim made on Daryl Dike’s West Brom future
Dike has managed just two seasons whereby he has made it into double figures for appearances since signing for West Brom, with his best scoring campaign coming in the 2022/23 season, when he bagged seven goals in 23 Championship games.
Having hit nine in 21 for Barnsley and also having an impressive record for Orlando, it is clear that there is real quality in the attacker, and that is something that has led our West Brom fan pundit, Callum Burgess, to long for ahead of this summer.
Callum said: “There is nothing more that Albion fans want to see than Daryl Dike at his very best next season.
“He’s had a horrid time with injury over the last few years but he has started to get back into good shape towards the end of the season, and he managed to score on the final day against Luton, and put in a good performance overall.
“I think with a pre-season under his belt and signs that his body is starting to hold up, that he’s able to share minutes with other options up-front, whether it is Josh Maja or others, I think Albion definitely could get the best out of Daryl Dike.
“Whether or not he stays with 12 months left on his contract is another question.”
