Bryan Mbeumo has broken his silence after Tottenham trumped Manchester United with a £70million bid to reunite new boss Thomas Frank with his star forward

Manchester United emerged as the Brentford’s star’s top choice, as the Red Devils made him their primary target after securing a deal for Wolves star Matheus Cunha. United saw an opening bid of £45million plus £10m in add-ons rejected, followed by a second unsuccessful offer.

However, Tottenham have now entered the race for Mbeumo, with new manager Thomas Frank keen on a reunion with his former player. As reported by the Mirror on Friday night, the North London club have made a substantial bid for Mbeumo.

Spurs have tabled a £70m offer, comprising £65m plus £5m in add-ons. This is £10m more than United’s last bid, with more money guaranteed upfront.

It’s believed that Mbeumo still favours a move to United. They certainly have the upper hand when it comes to wages, with the salary on offer at Old Trafford ranging from £150,000-£175,000 per week, with bonuses included, Mbeumo could potentially earn up to £200,000 per week.

Bryan Mbeumo’s future could turn into a saga this summer.

Spurs would need to shatter their rigid wage structure to match that, with Mbeumo projected to earn in the region of £130,000-£140,000 per week. Even with bonuses, it would still fall short of the earnings he could amass at United.

However, before Spurs made their approach on Friday afternoon, Mbeumo added fuel to the transfer speculation fire on social media, hinting that he might be reconsidering his options.

Up until then, Mbeumo had remained silent about Frank’s departure from Brentford, but the 25-year-old took to his Instagram account to share Brentford’s post confirming Frank’s exit, nearly a day later, captioning it with two prayer emojis.

The meaning of his message is unknown, whether it’s a thank you, or a plea to take him along? Ultimately, the truth will be revealed in due course.

Before leaving Brentford, Frank was open about his wish to continue working with Mbeumo. “I’m the head coach. I want my best players to stay forever” he stated. “I know that Bryan is very happy being here at Brentford, he’s thriving, doing well and playing fantastic. What happens in the future? I don’t know.

“I’ve said many times, we are a selling club. But at the same time, we have to reinforce that there are 10 clubs in the world that aren’t selling clubs. So, of course, if the right price – and that’s going to be expensive – is coming, then I’m sure the club will be open for it.

“But I’m very happy he’s here, and I’m convinced that Bryan will still be happy playing football here.”

Tottenham have made a bid worth £70 million ($95m) for Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo as they aim to secure the winger ahead of Manchester United.

Per the Daily Mirror, Spurs have launched a £70m offer for Mbeumo, comprising a fee of £65m ($88m) and add-ons totalling £5m ($7m), meaning they have outstripped United’s offer by £10m ($13.5m), although the player’s preference is still understood to be a move to Old Trafford.

Spurs have appointed Thomas Frank as their new manager and he is said to be very keen on bringing Mbeumo with him from Brentford. United do hold an advantage in terms of their ability to offer Mbeumo higher wages, and he would earn around £200,000-per-week at Old Trafford, whereas it would be closer to £140,000-per-week at Spurs.
