Club in transfer talks with Southampton defender – Player needs to lower demands
There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Trabzonspor are in transfer talks with Southampton defender Jan Bednarek.
The Poland international has recently been linked with a move to the Super Lig following Southampton’s relegation back to the Championship.
Kuzey Ekspres report Trabzonspor are the latest Super Lig side to show interest in the Southampton player after recent reports that Besiktas and Goztepe have been monitoring his situation with the Saints.
It’s expected the experienced defender will move on this summer and it’s claimed Trabzonspor have been in transfer talks with him.
However, the Pole’s salary demands are proving to be an issue for the Trabzon club, with reports the 29-year-old wants €5m a season.
Negotiations are expected to continue between the two parties in the hope they can come to an agreement over the player’s personal terms. Bednarek himself is said to be keen on a move away from Southampton as he’s not keen on playing in the Championship.
The defender has made 34 appearances this season, scoring two goals. He’s contracted to Southampton until June 2027.
Former Southampton striker named heavy favourite to land Celtic move
Southampton’s heroic attacker Danny Ings is being lined up among a bunch of experienced finishers Celtic can add to their roster.
Southampton fans need no introduction to Danny Ings, and for the better though. The former Three Lions striker has played arguably his best football at St. Mary’s in terms of goalscoring, and even now, there will hardly be any Southampton fan who wouldn’t wish for Ings Saints comeback.

After all, his pitiful West Ham days are over and the 32-year-old is free to pen fresh terms with any club over the summer. But does that make him a valuable squad asset for Southampton to have?
Here, the fans will nod willingly but the monotonous Dusan Tadic response will wipe away their entire Danny Ings excitement. Evidently, the Saints must assume Ings to wear any other club’s colours apart from Southampton’s.

Now, that outfit could be Scottish heavyweights Celtic as mentioned by Glasgow World.
Undoubtedly, that’s a big move and it may provide first-hand Champions League experience to Ings. If he starts hitting the ground running there, then maybe Ings can add a few more appearances for the England national team as well.

Hence, there is enough career potential for Ings if Celtic indeed come calling for him. To some extent, this potential scenario resembles with Fraser Forster’s brief but glorious Tottenham Hotspur stint.
The star shot-stopper enjoyed an irreplaceable status at St. Mary’s like Ings and the duo even delayed the idea of jumping ships in transfer windows for as long as they could. That being said, it’s only fair that they get to witness more silverware and recognition in the later stages of their playing career.
Hopefully, Ings secures a short-term contract at Celtic or any ambitious English side.
