The 26-year-old signed a professional contract with the U’s in 2018, but failed to make a first team appearance.

Noel-Williams, who is the son of former Watford, Stoke City and Burnley player Gifton Noel-Williams, had various loan spells away from United, and his football career has since seen him represent a host of clubs, including Wealdstone, Billericay Town, Spanish side CD Guadalajara, Hemel Hempstead Town, Gloucester City and Braintree Town.

In his revealing as one of the 12 contestants on Love Island, which returns to screens on Monday, Noel-Williams is said to be a personal trainer living in London.

Asked about his claim to fame, he responded: “My dad being an ex-professional footballer. I’ve met all kinds of famous people through him.

“When I was younger it was weird because he was just my dad, but we’d go to a game and fans were asking for photos. I’ve met David Beckham, he was really nice.”

Jack Currie backed to succeed after Leyton Orient loan

JACK Currie has been backed to succeed for Oxford United in Sky Bet Championship next season following an impressive loan at Leyton Orient.

The 23-year-old left back joined United from AFC Wimbledon at the beginning of July, but after not making a first team appearance, he then switched to Orient on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window deadline day.

When he linked up with the O’s, the side were second from bottom in League One, with three defeats from their opening three games.

However, Orient turned their season round to finish sixth and make the play-off final, where they were beaten 1-0 by Charlton Athletic at Wembley.

Currie played 43 times in all competitions for the O’s, including 39 starts, and was a standout performer at Brisbane Road.

The battle for the U’s left back slot will seemingly be a straight up battle between Currie and Greg Leigh in pre-season, following the release of Joe Bennett.

We caught up with BBC Radio London’s Orient reporter Dave Victor to get the lowdown on how Currie fared during his loan spell and what the future might hold for him.

How would you rate Jack Currie’s time at Leyton Orient overall?

Orient’s climb up the table demonstrates the immediate and positive impact Jack’s arrival had on the whole squad.

He is a fearless, strong, talented footballer. There is an intensity about Jack’s game that can transform matches.

I was impressed when I’d seen Jack play for Wimbledon, he was even better for the O’s, evidence of a young player who is learning and developing.

What were his main strengths and weaknesses?

Jack reads the game very well, as a result he can initiate effective counter-attacks. These will often start from a brave tackle, close control and a visionary pass, that open up defences.

Jack’s long throws cause problems and create opportunities. Jack’s courage is infectious. He is a leader. The only negative is that Jack doesn’t often shoot when there appears to be an opportunity to do so.

What do you think the next step should be for the defender?

Jack definitely has the ability to succeed in the Championship. I’m sure he will learn and thrive at a higher level.
