
Jay Stansfield lands summer assignment before Birmingham City pre-season..
Birmingham City star Jay Stansfield could represent England under-21s at this summer’s Euros.
Birmingham City striker Jay Stansfield has been named in the provisional England under-21 squad for this summer’s European Championships.
Stansfield is part of a 29-man group selected by Lee Carsley to prepare for the tournament in Slovakia next month. Carsley will whittle the squad down to 23 players before England begin their campaign against Czechia on June 12.
The striker scored 23 goals in all competitions for Blues last season to help the club win the League One title with an EFL-record 111 points.

He has won three caps for the England U21s since making his debut as a substitute against Serbia in November 2023.

Stansfield was due to link up with the U21s in March but he withdrew from international duty to manage an injury issue at Blues’ training base in Henley-in-Arden.
Now fit and healthy, Stansfield will link up with the side at St George’s Park and try to win a place on the plane to Slovakia.
If Stansfield features for England in the tournament his return for pre-season with Blues will be delayed. Blues are due to return for testing in the final week of June with pre-season training expected to commence on Monday, June 30.
England have been drawn in a group with Germany Czechia and Slovenia with the final due to take place on June 28.
