Essex Police arrest three people in Colchester after weekend patrols..
THREE people have been arrested by police officers for alleged offences including exposure, racially aggravated disorder, and affray.
Essex Police’s neighbourhood policing teams, which were launched last week, were out in force over the weekend.
Officers arrested a man on suspicion of racially aggravated public order, a female following a fight in the city centre, and a man on suspicion of indecent exposure.
A post on the Essex Police Facebook page said officers also spoke to residents across Colchester city about concerns they have about crime in the city.
Neighbourhood policing teams, which were formerly known as community policing teams, are a new initiative which involve 74 additional officers patrolling the streets in Essex.
Deputy chief constable Rachel Nolan told the Gazette last week: “The neighbourhood policing teams mean there’s more visibility, but also really importantly, they mean there’s more engagement with the community.
“That’s where we get our intelligence from and where we find out what’s actually going on and what matters to people.
“So much intelligence starts in neighbourhoods and that can balloon into anything right up to counter-terrorism intelligence and serious crime.
“I think additional officers coming into neighbourhood policing teams will make a real difference to our communities.”
